Chief Executive Officer
Awang Haji Khairuddin was appointed a Director of Darussalam Assets in March 2017, and as Chief Executive Officer of Darussalam Assets on 1 April 2018.
Awang Haji Khairuddin is the Permanent Secretary (Investment), at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, and concurrently the Managing Director of the Retirement Fund and Fiscal Stabilization Fund of the Investment Division of the Ministry of Finance.
Awang Haji Khairuddin began his career in government service in 1989 with the Brunei Investment Agency, serving in various leadership positions in Brunei and overseas, including London and Boston. Between 2014 and 2016, Awang Haji Khairuddin was appointed Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources. In addition to primary roles, Awang Haji Khairuddin serves as a director on a number of GLC boards.
Awang Haji Khairuddin graduated with a Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Management Studies from Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
Chief Investment Officer
Ainadin Cader is the Chief Investment Officer of Darussalam Assets.
Prior to joining Darussalam Assets in 2015, Ainadin was a Director at The Abraaj Group, managing the Group’s investments in Brunei. Prior to joining Abraaj, Ainadin worked initially as a senior investment officer and subsequently as Director in private equity with Aureos Capital Limited (in Africa and Brunei). Ainadin started his career in audit with Ernst & Young and, later joined KPMG. He is currently a board director on a number of Government-linked companies.
Ainadin has a BA Degree in Accounting Science from the University of South Africa (1990).
Chief Corporate Affairs officer
Hajah Rahayu was appointed as the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Darussalam Assets on 1 September 2019.
Prior to joining Darussalam Assets in 2014, Hajah Rahayu began her career in the legal field and was the Principal Counsel of the Attorney General’s Chambers where she headed the Civil Division. In addition to her role as Company Secretary of Darussalam Assets and Secretary to the Supervisory Council, Governance and Training Committee and Group Nominating Committee of Darussalam Assets, Hajah Rahayu serves as a director on a number of Darussalam Assets’ subsidiary companies.
Hajah Rahayu was admitted as an Advocate and Barrister to the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn (1994) after obtaining a Bachelor of Law (LLB) at the University of Manchester. She also holds a Diploma in Perundangan Islam dan Guaman Syar’i from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (2003).
Chief Financial Officer
Laila Hussainmiya was appointed as the Chief Financial Officer of Darussalam Assets on 1 September 2019.
Prior to joining Darussalam Assets in 2016, Laila was the Head of Corporate Finance at Telekom Brunei Sdn Bhd overseeing the company’s finance operations. Laila began her career with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) New Zealand in the Graduate Training Program, later moving to audit advisory. Thereafter, Laila joined Telecom New Zealand and held a range of commercial and finance roles in her 8 years’ tenure, including External Reporting, Group Consolidation, IFRS, SOX compliance, set up of a start-up prepaid mobile brand and was involved in the first ever structural demerger of a Retail and infrastructure Telco business in New Zealand.
Laila holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting & Finance and a Postgraduate Degree in Commercial Law from the University of Auckland. Laila is a Chartered Accountant and a registered mentor with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (NZICA). She has also achieved the top percentile rank in the University of Oxford Executive Leadership Program.
