Pehin Abu Bakar was appointed the Chairman of the Supervisory Council of Darussalam Assets on 30 January 2018.
Pehin Abu Bakar is the Minister of Home Affairs and concurrently serves as Chairman and board member of a number of Government statutory bodies, committees and charitable foundations.
In more than 45 years of Government service, Pehin Abu Bakar has held a number of senior positions, not only in the Ministry of Home Affairs, but also the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Education, and the Prime Minister’s Office, including the Department of Education, the Public Service Department, the University Brunei Darussalam, and the Office of the General Advisor to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
Pehin Abu Bakar graduated with a BA (Hons) degree from University Malaya in 1972 and graduated with a Master’s degree from University of Lancaster, United Kingdom, in 1980.
Dato Dr Amin was appointed as a Member of the Supervisory Council and Chairman of the Board of Darussalam Assets on 30 January 2018.
In addition to his role as Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II, Dato Dr Amin concurrently serves as Chairman and member on the boards of numerous Government statutory bodies and Government-linked companies including telecommunication, healthcare, hospitality, aviation, education, and oil and gas. Prior to his appointment as Minister of Finance II, Dato Dr Amin was the Deputy Minister of Finance (Investment), as well as Chief Executive Officer of Darussalam Assets Sdn Bhd.
Prior to joining Darussalam Assets in 2014, Dato Dr Amin was the CEO of a private-equity firm based in Singapore, following a 14-year career in the Brunei Government, holding various key positions including Managing Director of the Brunei Investment Agency and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources.
Dato Dr Amin graduated with a Bachelor’s degree (First Class) in Computer Science and Statistics from Queen Mary College, University of London (1984). He also holds a Master’s degree in Management (1989) and a PhD in Corporate Finance (1993) from Imperial College, University of London and a professional qualification as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) (2004). He is also a member of CFA Singapore.
Dato Suhaimi was appointed as a Member of the Supervisory Council of Darussalam Assets on 30 January 2018.
Dato Suhaimi is the Minister of Development.
Dato Suhaimi started his career in Government service in 1985 and has served in various capacities at the Ministry of Development including the roles of Deputy Minister and Permanent Secretary (Technical and Professional).
Dato Suhaimi graduated with a BSc degree (Hons) in Civil Engineering (1985) from North East London University, United Kingdom, and an MBA (General) degree from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (2003). In 1994, Dato Suhaimi was awarded credentials of a Chartered Engineer (C Eng) from the Institute of Chartered Engineers. Dato Suhaimi is a fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Engineer (FICE), United Kingdom and the ASEAN Academy of Engineering (AAET).
Dato Haji Hamzah was appointed as a Member of the Supervisory Council of Darussalam Assets on 30 January 2018, and a Director of the Board of Directors of Darussalam Assets since 12 December 2014.
Dato Haji Hamzah is Minister of Education.
Dato Haji Hamzah began his career in Government service in 1991. He was a member of the Faculty of Business, Economic and Policy Studies, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD). While at UBD, he served as Head of Department of Public Policy and Administration and the inaugural Head of the Institute of Policy Studies. Subsequently, he served in a number of posts at the Ministry of Defence as well as the Ministry of Finance. He was the inaugural Director of Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies and was later appointed as Deputy Permanent Secretary (Defence Policy and Development) at the Ministry of Defence. At Ministry of Finance, he was responsible for economic research and managing relations between Brunei Darussalam and a number of international organizations such as ASEAN, ASEAN + 3, APEC, IMF, World Bank, Islamic Development Bank and Asian Development Bank.
Dato Haji Hamzah graduated with a Bachelor’s (Hons) degree in Public Policy and Administration from Universiti Brunei Darussalam and a Master’s degree in Political Science from State University of New York, USA.
