16 Jan Fostering CSR through supporting special needs skills development
Darussalam Assets Sdn Bhd has kickstarted the year by sponsoring the full participation of two special needs students at the Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam for one year.
This represents the fourth consecutive year that Darussalam Assets has been a benefactor of the Special Needs Student Adoption Scheme, launched by Pusat Ehsan in 2017.
Through this scheme, sponsors are given the opportunity to fully cover the expenses of special needs students which, among others, includes learning support, rehabilitation services, activities, facilities and transportation expenses. More importantly, sponsors invest in the life, growth and development of students of Pusat Ehsan. This is part and parcel of Darussalam Assets’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, which focusses on building and strengthening ties with the local community. The cheque presentation was held at Darussalam Assets office at the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE).
Over the years, Darussalam Assets has cultivated a strong relationship with Pusat Ehsan, conducting visits to the organisation to meet the students and learn more about their progress in learning and development at the Pusat Ehsan centre. Through these visits, Darussalam Assets aims to better understand the needs of Pusat Ehsan and its students as well as identify opportunities, where Darussalam Assets can further support both the centre and the special needs community.
Present during the handover of the donation were Permanent Secretary (Investment) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy and Chief Executive Officer of Darussalam Assets Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, Senior Executives of Darussalam Assets and Executive Trustee of Pusat Ehsan Pengiran Datin Hajah Noraini binti Pengiran Dipa Negara Laila Diraja Pengiran Haji Abdul Momin, as well as Pusat Ehsan’s staff members.
During the handover, Haji Khairuddin said, “Darussalam Assets is committed to fostering a socially responsible corporate environment, which supports the special needs community in unleashing their full potential to be recognised as skilled people, as well as meaningfully contribute to the nation’s local employment rate. We are grateful to be able to continue our support as we have witnessed the life changing progress the students have made over the years as a result of this scheme and we hope other organisations will follow suit.”
Speaking on behalf of Pusat Ehsan, Pengiran Datin Hajah Noraini said, “We are very appreciative of Darussalam Assets’ continuous dedication and financial support to Pusat Ehsan. We commend Darussalam Assets and other organisations that have been our longstanding benefactors in the special needs community, for their investment in the life, growth and development of our students who seek to bring out their best.”
