Donations pour in to tackle COVID-19 outbreak

The Ministry of Health received donations as part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) from donors to assist the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in tackling the COVID-19 outbreak in the Sultanate.

A total of BND42,300 was presented to Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar by To’kong China Society of Bandar Seri Begawan represented by its Chairman Lee Eng Ching.

Muara Port Company Sdn Bhd (MPC), a joint-venture company between Darussalam Assets Sdn Bhd (Darussalam Assets) and Beibu Gulf Holding (Hong Kong) Co, represented by MPC Chief Executive Officer Zeng Caili handed over a cheque to Minister of Health Dato Dr Haji Mohammad Isham bin Jaafar during a presentation ceremony.

The donation is part of MPC’s continued contribution and support to the Government’s efforts in curbing the spread of COVID-19.

MPC recently announced that the company is waiving Port Charges for the importation of all cargo relating to medical supplies and equipment intended for the Ministry of Health’s use to combat the COVID-19 outbreak.

MPC will also be donating food and necessary supplies to Tutong Hospital to express its appreciation to COVID-19 frontliners. Zeng Caili said the company is committed in providing additional support to help MOH in handling the pandemic. MPC also assured the public that the company has activated its Business Continuity Plan and has taken proactive measures to ensure that operations and terminal efficiency will not be affected.

The company has implemented health and safety measures such as temperature checks, sanitisers available at all MPC terminal gates and the usage of masks as a mandatory requirement.

The government of the Republic of Singapore donated 3,000 diagnostic test kits and one Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machine to detect COVID-19.

The donation was presented to the minister by High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam Lim Hong Huai.

The donation showed a close and strong cooperation between the two countries especially during the COVID-19 outbreak.

It also shows the cooperation between the two countries on public health and clinical case management to contain and treat COVID-19 patients. Brunei’s Ministry of Health thanked Singapore’s Ministry of Health for their generosity and solidarity.

Medetech Sdn Bhd donated a unit of ETCO2 POD/Sensor machine and a unit of Drager Monitor (Model Delta) during a presentation ceremony at the lobby of Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital, Tutong yesterday.

Medetech Sdn Bhd Senior Service Engineer Rameshkumar Velusamy presented the donation to Acting Senior Health Officer of the hospital Abdul Mu’iz bin Haji Ibrahim.

Hua Ho Department Store and Pro Builder Sdn Bhd, presented BND250,000 and BND70,000 to the minister at the Ministry of Health’s building. Hua Ho Department Store was represented by its Senior Management team Law Hau Wei, Lau How Teck and Lau How Kun. Pro Builder Sdn Bhd was represented by its Managing Director Sia Kie King.
